About Me

Hey, it’s me, Anli πŸ˜€

It’s very nice to meet you!

I decided to start this blog to provide travel inspiration but also an eye-opening perspective on travelling that most people don’t really talk about. Travelling is be a form of self-discovery because it helps a person to grow and understand themselves better through new life experiences. I’m here to show you how and why it’s an important concept to discuss and share.

The blog is intended for those who love travelling of course, but also want to work on their personal growth through trying new things, travelling being the main pathway to healing and growing. Through tips and inspiration, I want to open your mind and see travelling as a form of therapy when you go out with the right mindset, not as a vacation to get away from your day to day routine.

It’s a long way to the end so might as well enjoy the journey!

There are so many benefits from travelling that no one really talks about because they travel with the intention of seeing, taking pictures and then just going home. But that’s not the kind of travelling I want you to experience. It’s learning about the culture and people of a local place, connecting with strangers and trying new things whenever possible. It’s about being present and experiencing.

How many people can say they’ve been olive picking to make fresh olive oil? An authentic Italian experience.

This blog is the journey that I’ve been on in the past 3 years and I’m sharing everything I’ve learned and know now, with you. This is the information that I wish I had known when I was 20 years old.

Well, here is a bit about me in a nutshell!

I’m a Chinese girl with a Kiwi accent and a Dutch passport.

I don’t know what you would call that but it definitely does not fit into a category! Because I never really fit in, I slowly learned that travelling became a sense of belonging.

There was a point in my life where I didn’t want to exist anymore. I know what it feels like to be hopeless and lost in life. It’s the worst feeling to lose the will to live. You feel like no one understands you or can help you.

But this is where I chose to escape from everything, my old life and daily routine. With no plan whatsoever, I made a bold move to sell my belongings, pack a backpack, and move to New Zealand.

What came after that was all unexpected but I think planned in a way by the universe because it was the best decision I could’ve made in my life. I got out of my comfort zone by joining a hiking and rock-climbing guiding course, I met the love of my life (we live together in The Netherlands now!), we travelled all around New Zealand in a minivan, I started painting and selling them as a side hustle, and along with all that, I met SO many incredible, heart-warming people who have made a positive impact in my life.

Honestly, three of the most terrifying months of my life but I loved every minute of it!

The adventures were amazing as you can imagine but what I value more than anything is the fact that I came out a stronger person mentally. I learned to be better at relationships and how to connect more deeply with people. I grew confident in my own abilities. I learned that kindness and giving without expectations can change your entire perspective. I spent time alone and discovered what I liked and who I wanted to be, someone who’s creative, courageous, compassionate and an example to others who feel lost in their life.

This is why I’m an advocate for self-discovery and personal growth. This is what got me out. And I hope to help you, even just to take one small step towards a happier you.

My life philosophy is to travel, self-discovery, spend time in nature and make meaningful connections with people.
